About
Mission Statement
The mission of the Student Government Affairs Office is to serve the students at CSU, Chico by raising their level of consciousness on pertinent issues. Elected and appointed representatives serve as leaders and advocates, taking action to achieve educational, social, political and campus goals. They do this by presenting the expressed desires and interests of the student body to the University Administration, faculty, staff, alumni and community and the California State Student Association. CSU, Chico’s Associated Students truly represent the voice of students on our campus.
The Officers
- Establish overall policy and direction for the Associated Students as well as oversee the management of its operations.
- Award money to student clubs and organizations for hosting events that provide additional educational benefit and entertainment value to the campus.
- Staff and support committees and councils that allocate resources, help set policy and improve communication with the community.
Get Involved
If you are interested in becoming involved, a great first step is to join a committee or council. The commitment is minimal, often no more than 2 hours per week. Positions are generally filled at the beginning of the fall semester for each academic year. check out uncle sam’s “we need you” feature box to learn more about the councils and commitees at www.csuchico.com/studentgovernment
